Plan Delivery
Forensic plan delivery is Lotwright's system for proving — in court, if necessary — exactly what plan version a trade partner received, when they received it, and when they acknowledged it.
What is forensic plan delivery?
When a warranty dispute comes up years after closing, the central question is often: "Did the framer build to the right plan?" The answer depends on what plan pages were delivered, and when. Paper, email, or a shared Dropbox folder can't answer that reliably.
Lotwright's forensic delivery creates a cryptographically signed, timestamped record for every plan delivery. The SHA-256 hash of the plan file is stored at delivery time. If anyone claims a different version was delivered, the hash proves otherwise.
Upload plans to a job
- Open the job and click the Plans tab.
- Click Upload Plans and select your PDF.
- Confirm the consent checkbox — you're warranting that you have the right to distribute these plans (architect copyright). This is logged in the audit trail.
- The PDF is stored securely and a SHA-256 hash is computed and recorded.
Tag pages by trade
After uploading, you assign page ranges to specific trades. Example: "Pages 1–3 go to all trades, pages 4–6 go to Framing only, pages 7–8 go to Electrical only."
Trade partners can only view the pages assigned to their trade. A framing crew cannot see the electrical pages — preventing competitive-intel leakage and reducing confusion.
Click Deliver to Trades when you're ready. Lotwright notifies each affected trade partner via email and in-app notification.
The acknowledgment record
When plans are delivered, each trade partner's status shows as Delivered. Their status only changes to Acknowledged when they actively view the plans and click Acknowledge in their portal.
This creates a four-event chain in the immutable audit log:
- Uploaded — SHA-256 hash recorded
- Delivered — Timestamped, notification sent
- Viewed — Trade partner opened the PDF
- Acknowledged — Trade partner clicked "I have received and reviewed these plans"
All four events are permanent records. You can export this chain as a PDF for legal use.
Plan revisions
When you upload a new version of the plans, Lotwright creates a new delivery record — the old version is retained indefinitely. Every trade partner who had the previous version is notified and must re-acknowledge the new version.
Lotwright shows both versions side-by-side in the Trade Partner Portal so trades can see what changed.
Important: If a trade partner has not acknowledged a revision and builds based on the old version, the audit log makes clear you notified them of the new version. Keep an eye on the Plan Delivery Health banner on your dashboard — it flags any unacknowledged deliveries older than 7 days.
View the delivery record
Go to Job → Plans → Delivery History to see the full delivery record for any plan version. You can filter by trade, date, and acknowledgment status. The full record is also included in the job's archive ZIP export at closing.
